Keeping you connected

My thoughts on the world of social media are limitless. I feel that these outlets we use to express ourselves and connect with others give us amazing abilities to empower and encourage. Raising money for charities, raising awareness of world issues, or simply congratulating someone for their recent accomplishments are among the thousands of positive aspects of social media. I also believe that they can be addictive for some people and can consume an unbelievable amount of time each day. If you are a person who posts selfies or trolls others on a regular basis, and spends minimal amounts of time thinking of ways to be productive or support people, you ain't doin it right. Just to clarify, I'm not saying that putting selfies online makes you a bad person. But everything in moderation people! These types of behaviors are only one dynamic of the social media scene. The phrase "expanding your horizons" certainly applies here; use social media for all of the things that it offers. We're all guilty of neglecting the better sides of social media, but its never too late to drop a message by an old friend or to post information on a relevant world issue that deserves attention. It could be those few words (or posts) that move someone to do something great! Let's all get the ball rolling. Those are my two cents for the day, and I hope you enjoyed them.  -HP

This past weekend the NFL started up it's 2014-2015 season, and my boys and I started a fantasy football league. In the past, I have been really bad about updating my roster when there's been injuries or suspensions, so team usually does poorly at best. For this reason, I have refrained from participating in the last few seasons of fantasy. However, I am back with a vengeance this season; I won the first game against my boy Kyle 98-89, despite having left Wes Welker (out for suspension) as a starting receiver. They say ignorance is bliss, but hopefully I can conquer my past lack of attention to the starters and dominate the league. Something that I am not dominating in the league at the moment, though, is the team name game. My first opponent, Let Gore of My Pitta Chips, definitely trumped my title of Team Kelly, the name my friend had to create for me because I was late to register for the fantasy draft. I need to think of a witty title sooner rather than later. Honestly though, checking my roster and stats sometimes feels like another homework assignment, especially with the stuff I've been doing lately! We'll have to see if I can keep up with the fantasy league. Catch you later peeps! -HP

MSBA Quick Blog!

Hello all! Welcome to my blog. I wanted to quickly share something that I like about this program. It has occurred to me that everyone involved in the program has quickly adjusted to each other, which has made the transition into the masters program (which can sound daunting) smooth, and for lack of a better (or real) word, un-awkward. It has been great how helpful we've been in reminding one another of assignments and providing quick tips and help along the way. Even though the GroupMe app drains the life out of my battery faster than I can finish our quant homework (....joking), it has already been a more than useful tool in helping us organize as a group and as individuals.  Everyone seems to be invested in the group and focused on what is in front of us, while maintaining a calm and collected aura. Yes I just used that word, but personally it has been a relieving and motivating experience thus far. We have a blessed group here in many ways and I'm happy to get to share these opportunities with you all and I hope we continue on this path toward a successful year together. Peace everybody and see ya tomorrow. HP
